Match report The 1st XI put in their best performance of the season to take 16pts from a winning draw.

Winning the toss, Skip elected to bat on a good deck and fast outfield. The match started in poor light and fine drizzle but undeterred, Skip and Charlie set off like a train. Some wayward bowling allowed the score to rattle along and 88 came from 20 overs. Charlie departed for 44, hitting a long hop to point. Skip also departed for 44 and it was left to vice-skip and Waggy to rebuild. This they did and the score moved to 142 from 32 when vice-skip was LBW for 22. Podge joined Waggy and some big hits added impetous - Podge went for 25 off 12 and Waggy for 39. This brought Coxy and Tom to the crease and Coxy played the game-changing innings, hitting 33 from 17 balls. Cosby settled on 251-8 at tea.

The Oakham reply started slowly - Ben Spencer again bowling quickly and economically. The breakthrough came in the 9th over as Stuart-Jones was trapped LBW by Ben. The score reached 42 for 1 off 15 and it would be another 16 overs before a wicket fell - Roger & Waggy bowled well but with little attacking cricket it was tough to take wickets. Finally the opener was out for 45 but Cowley proceed past 50 and then for a well made hundred. With 93 needed off 9, finally some big-hitting started but Roger & Waggy bowled tightly, Roger prising out 3 courtesy of 2 stumpings from Baz and bowling the other. With 54 required off 4, it was still game on but when Cowley was bowled, the innings closed on 226-6.

A good game and finally a performance we could be proud of from oour batting and bowling.

MOM: A tough call this one, with good performances from all the batsmen and Ben, Roger and Waggy with the ball. MOM goes to those who change the game, and this week it was Ben Cox - big-hitting which took the innings that 30 runs further than it should've done.
