Match report Cosby Win Pre-Season Opener

Match Report: Shepshed Town V Cosby, Sunday 19th April

Cosby's first and only game of pre-season brought sunshine and lots of positives ahead of the league campaign. Asked to bowl first Matt Hurst (2-8) and new signing Ben Croucher (0-11) bowled well with the new ball. This was follwed up by Paul Wood (3-18) and Ben Spencer (2-5)and when Curtis Hollway cleaned up the tail (4-9) Cosby were in complete control. Shepshed continued to bat and that gave others the opportunity to bowl. Ellis Brown (1-8), Nigel Meredith (2-12) & Ben Cox (0-9) all bowled well. The Shepshed innings closed on 93-14!!

An excellent tea was then enjoyed by all and Cosby had 40 ovrs of batting practice ahead.

Thorpe & Odell opened and played confidently until Odell got a good ball from the young opening bowler and was bowled for 13. Meredith & Thorpe continued and Thorpe batted well until his retirement at 50.

Meredith (39) Hurst (39) & Todd (49) all got valuable time in the middle. In the last few overs youngsters Spencer (13) and Ben Cox (21no) batted well and showed signs that both could have decent seasons for the 2s. Cosby closed on 237-7

Overall it was a worthwhile game ahead of the more challenging league fixtures. Everyone contributed and the outlook for the season is very positive.
