Match report Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it just got a whole lot better. Winning the toss, the skipper inserted Billesdon on a green and a slightly damp track. The early signs were encouraging as Brett Lane had it hooping around. Brett had Chand out LBW before the innings was re-built. It took a brilliant run-out from Mikey White to remove Lapworth with Brooky bowling tight at the pavillion end. Snaith went to Lane, well held by Baker and then it became the Steve Wagstaff show. With flight and guile, Waggy removed Elliott, Miles, Welch, Mitchell and Clamp to finish with 5-28. All out for 171, the captain was delighted to have an additional one over in the chase.

After a good tea, the captain and Thorpe opened up and the runs flowed easily. With 43 off 7 and 60 off 12 it all started very well. Thorpe succumbed to a straight one and Podge went to one which kept low. When Odell carved one to gully, the wobble had well and truly started but Brooky and Waggy re-built the innings, playing patiently and putting away the bad ball. Brooky made a well made 42 before being caught at point with 19 required from 6. Enter Rob Dawkins. 4 crunching boundaries eased the nerves from the big man and victory was finally achieved with 3 overs to spare. Waggy, with a 29 not out, had a great day. Finally, the middle order bogey had been laid to rest and another victory achieved.

MOM: A tough call this one with great performances from Darren and Brett Lane. With 5-25 and 29 not out, Steve Wagstaff takes the plaudits and the MOM award.
